This antique print features two shorebirds, the Dunlin (Calidris alpina) and the Sanderling (Calidris alba). The plate originates from “Nederlandsche Vogelen” (Dutch Birds), a five volume Dutch natural history compendium by Cornelius Nozeman and Christiaan Sepp, published in Amsterdam from 1770. It was published in installments and finished in 1829, this plate being from 1770. The masterwork in its entirety was the first comprehensive avifauna of the Netherlands.
Very good antique condition as observed in frame. Both the antique frame and its mat are in good condition as well.
